Discontinued IC regeneration case 1 (IC analysis service + Low-volume production)
A gate array produced by the 0.7μm process of a semiconductor manufacturer in Japan was regenerated by the TSMC 0.5μm process. Because it was unclear whether the net list of the customer was the latest data or not, the IC analysis service was used to check the circuits. This product was manufactured in a batch for service parts and reliability testing was conducted before the finished products were delivered.
Discontinued IC regeneration case 2 (During continued supply)
A gate array produced by the 0.8μm process of a semiconductor manufacturer in Japan was regenerated by the TSMC 0.5μm process. Regeneration was carried out from the net list the customer had. IC analysis was not required and continued supply of the product was initiated about 4 months after the development started. More than 200,000 products per year are supplied even now.
Discontinued IC regeneration case 3
(IC analysis service + FPGA development and verification + Low-volume production)
Two types of gate arrays produced by a semiconductor manufacturer in Japan were regenerated by the TSMC 0.5μm process. The circuits were extracted from the actual IC product with the use of IC analysis service and FPGA verification was conducted before the regeneration. We also provide FPGA design and verification services. If verification on an actual machine using FPGA is required, this service helps checking functions and the IC can be regenerated securely. This example regenerated two types of 300 gate arrays each. The discontinued IC regeneration service can be used for such small numbers.
